Boogie Street︱Homeboy (Molly Johnson & Mickey Rourke)

A journey to the end of the road... Molly Johnson’s terrific interpretation of Leonard Cohen’s Boogie Street featuring Mickey Rourke in his 1988 passion project... The Returning to Boogie Street metaphor is a recurring element in Cohen’s works. Basically, it means going back to ordinary life after having a glimpse into the deeper levels of reality -- for instance, because of falling in love or some other staggering experience. This motive unfolds throughout the lyrics, beautifully reinforced by Molly Johnson’s superb musical rendition, and creates an interesting counterpoint with Johnny Walker’s (Mickey Rourke) quest for peace of mind...
