NEEDLE LACE DEMO: How to make needle lace ASMR-style video

A demonstration of needle lace worked in linen on a template supported on a bolster pillow. With linen thread, buttonhole stitches are worked over foundation threads on a template which slowly creates the most intricate and sturdy lace. Sometimes called cutwork or reticella, and more often punto in aria, this style of 17th century lace has typically been hard to learn due to a lack of resources. Now, with this short video, i can introduce you to the technique while helping you relax as you watch the stitches take place. The geometric design is simple, but when worked in conjunction with the lace points around the edge, the design takes on a complexity that is sure to astound people. The linen thread I use in this video is a 50/2 thread that comes from Belgium. With nothing more than a piece of paper, a simple sewing needle and lots of time, the handwork becomes smooth and rhythmic allowing a meditative state to take over while also bringing beauty into the world It is a very meditative video if you don’t read the ticker. If you do read the ticker, it is also quite informative.
