India: 31 dead in Mumbai landslides caused by heavy rainfall

The landslides took place in Mumbai’s suburbs of Chembur and Vikhroli, with a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) spokesperson having announced that rescue operations were concluded on Sunday evening. A total of 31 people have died in the two landslides, with two people injured and all missing persons accounted for, according to the NDRF spokesperson. “Water and mud came together under pressure and a two-story house collapsed and trapped the whole family in the rubble. The neighbors were also killed,“ said a local Pod.
