Extendable Scissor Lamp

No workshop is complete without a shop light. I built a scissor mechanism so it can extend and swivel over the workbench; I even added some braided lamp cord for that industrial look. It’s amazing what you can build with some scrap wood! Mounting the lamp required a unique solution so that the lamp could tuck away when not needed, but also peek around the corner to be able to extend the entire span of the workbench. Some black iron pipe adds to the aesthetic and allows for a full range of motion. The main inspiration can be found here: However I modified the design so that the mechanism parts weren’t permanently glued in place. Gluing the parts together means that if something gets tight and needs adjustment, there aren’t many options for troubleshooting. Using hardware is more expensive, but this thing is completely adjustable and comes apart completely if need be. There is enough room on the end to add more gadg
