More than 40,000 people hit the streets to protest against an extended lockdown and plans by the government to make vaccinations compulsory starting from February 2022. A reported 1,500 staged a counter-protest against the rally. More than 1,000 police were deployed to prevent an escalation of the event. The protest came as Austria issued an extension of the lockdown to 20 days instead of the initial 10 days. A parliamentary committee approved the measure earlier in the week. Austria has reported nearly 1.2 million coronavirus cases and more than 12,000 deaths with COVID-19 deaths since the pandemic began last year. #COVID19 #coronavirus #Vienna #Austria Video ID: 20211204-054 Video on Demand: Contact: cd@ Twitter:
