Carol of the Bells - Polyrhythmic Piano Arrangement
Carol of the Bells is a popular Christmas carol and one of the most common examples of 3:2 polyrhythms in music. In this piano arrangement the polyrhythmic qualities of the piece are amplified through rhythmic displacements and layered parts with 3:2 and 4:3 relationships.
The original version of this song is based on the Ukrainian folk chant “Shchedryk”. It was composed by Mykola Leontovych in 1914 and later translated to English by Peter J. Wilhousky.
