Every Child Matters: Fab Lab Solidarity

How can the fab lab network as act in solidarity with Indigenous nations which are impacted by the tragic history of residential and boarding schools? Recent discoveries of graves of children at these schools specifically contextualize attitudes around education shaped by systemic oppression of Indigenous peoples. In addition to promoting demands for reparations from social structures such as governments and the Catholic church, designers and educators have a call to action to co-create an equitable vision for the future of education. In this workshop, participants will: map out local ecosystems, identify existing resources, and sketch strategies for co-creation. Further, participants will be called to reflect on the land where they live and work. What is our relationship with where we are? How does this specific history impact our neighbors within our own local ecosystem, today?
