The song was written by Aron Strobel, Richard Palmer-James & Stefan Zauner. It was released on July 13, 1987 by the German pop-rock band “Münchener Freiheit” (known sometimes simply as Freiheit) They are named after a square in the city of Munich, Germany, meaning “Munich liberty“. It is considered part of the Neue Deutsche Welle musical movement. “Play It Cool” had reached #4 in the Netherlands, #10 in Norway & #17 in Sweden. The band are best known in the English-speaking world for their single “Keeping The Dream Alive“ (reached #14 in the UK Singles Chart in 1988).
