Refining a Wheel Thrown Pottery Vase

Trimming an angular vase form, which starts by refining the outer walls and rim, which I bevel and sharpen, as it causes the pot to give the overall impression that its thinner and lighter than it might actually be.   The outer form is followed by the foot, which has a well carved into it, another, shallower bevel turned around the circumference, to give the pot the impression of lift and visually just hovers over whatever surface it’s placed upon. Then my maker’s mark is stamped into a portion of the pot that’ll remain as bare clay once reduction fired to 1290ºC.   This is my favourite process. I prefer it to throwing, glazing, anything else really, and as I enter what will be a week-long packaging marathon, I’m already missing this step.   #satisfying #WIP #pottery #ceramics #asmr
