Sicily under water! Heavenly stones the size of an orange fell on Italy!

Ancona, a port city on the Adriatic, was hardest hit, with several areas without electricity or telephone service. Schools in the affected areas were closed on Friday. Storms also hit neighboring Umbria. Italy’s Civil Protection Department has issued a severe weather warning for parts of Abruzzo, Lazio, Molise and Sicily due to thunderstorms after days of heat. While many welcomed the prospect of rain in southern areas after months of extremely hot and dry conditions, the weather has swung from one extreme to the other.
