Israeli claims of accidentally shooting Turkish American activist challenged
A new investigation by The Washington Post has challenged Israel’s claims that it accidentally shot and killed Turkish American activist Aysenur Ezgi Eygi.
The 26-year-old activist succumbed to her wounds after being shot and critically injured in the head by Israeli forces in Beita, a town located south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank.
An autopsy on September 9 confirmed she was killed by a bullet to the head.
Israel claimed its forces “indirectly and unintentionally” shot her during a “violent riot,” however, the Post’s investigation has challenged these claims.
Here is what the investigation found.
