15 Feint the different way with the Italian dueling sword - finta di cartoccio

In our instructional series on traditional Italian fencing with the dueling sword we take a big step further to the Cartoccio. This technique is a disengagement or cavazione but not in the high line but from the high to the low line. This time we have a look how a feint would look like in this kind of movement. We are not doing olympic fencing but historical fencing or HEMA, which means we follow the book “Scuola della spada from Paolo de Scalzi from 1853. He taught the sword or epee as it were a sharp weapon and you better don’t get hit. That makes fencing the martial art and real fighting as it should be seen as, just as it were taught in European weapons training for centuries! If you want to join us, Mispeldorn is located in Aachen Germany We are one of the finest clubs for smallsword and sabre if you are looking for a different kind of weapon in HEMA. Maybe you are interested to join our study group for cane, staff and Savate or just come for a visit! See some of our books and translations here: #hema #fencing #martialarts #historicalfencing #epee
