Kink Fluid Follow #Orti here: Green Deserts’ is the second EP by Berlin-based artist ’orti’. Alongside its predecessor EP ’Red Gardens’, both pieces constitute a series of sonic endeavours that the multiinstrumentalist composed in the past years and has released during 2023. The title of this EP serves as a conceptual antonym to the former one, with “Green“ contrasting “Red“ in colour theory, and “Deserts“ opposing “Gardens“. This word-game aims to reflect the exploratory nature of the pieces, immersing the listener in different genres while maintaining a recognisable production style. The EP includes an EBM/ Industrial Punk flagship song named ’Roto,’ two IDM journeys titled ’Interfere’ and ’Kink Fluid,’ a cinematic Acid Techno piece called ’Viper,’ and the hard-house Mexican-flavoured track ’Km. 26.’ While moving slightly away from rock sounds toward more dance-floor oriented ones, this EP still retains the presence of organic instruments, analogue sounds, and samples. Conceptually, this EP reflects on the journey resulting from engaging in a personal struggle for growth and improvement. In addition to the Spanish lyrics of ’Roto’, which means “broken“ and explicitly explores this theme, self-development and inner resilience are recurring concepts in the composition of the soundscapes in the other tracks as well.
