James Carter is... out of his mind. He absolutely crushed it live at Montreux in jam with the Phil Collins big band on Pick Up The Pieces! This goes beyond beast-mode... it’s rather Hulk-mode. There is a lot to unpack here, from great groovy and funcky lines with only a few notes, to the craziest of rapid fire up and down triple the saxophone range, to summoning a demon-like sound you never thought could be created on sax.
