To succeed, she needs an absolute majority in the European Parliament. Therefore she made pledges in a letter to reluctant EU lawmakers. Another Brexit extension, a guaranteed minimum wage and expanded unemployment benefits are some of the goals Ursula von der Leyen says she’ll pursue if elected tomorrow as European Commission President.
