Paint this Loose Abstract Watercolour Mountain watercolor landscape tutorial with Cling Film & Paint

After a couple of weeks focusing mostly on flower painting, it’s been difficult to get back into landscapes, so today’s demo is for a warm up exercise, an abstract monochrome mountain landscape just using 1 colour: Cotman paynes grey (I use Cotman paynes grey as it splits out from black to blue and grey when I paint with lots of water), painting in an abstract, experimental way to try to loosen up and get the feel for landscape painting again. I’m trying to avoid painting particular features of a landscape, letting the loose brushwork and wet in wet effects suggest the lay of the land. A surprisingly good exercise to help with your loose painting, I also use cling film/plastic food wrap/glad wrap to create some extra texture. While this is very simple and quick, these abstract approaches acan take a bit of practice if you aren’t used to them! I used my extra large Pro Arte Hake brush and a 3/4"
