FFFF#11 2022 It was a special honour for us when legendary psych folk musician Simon Finn selected Fanø Free Folk Festival as one of the places to mark the 50 year anniversary of his seminal masterpiece “Pass the Distance”, which was supposed to take place in 2020. Sadly, that anniversary had to be postponed due to Covid-19, but luckily we get the chance in 2022, where we will celebrate an album and an artist who has been a huge inspiration to us and who also performed at the festival in 2012. Largely overlooked at the time, “Pass the Distance” received renewed interest from a new generation of alternative folk artists, especially after it was reissued by the Durtro/Jnana label run by Current 93’s David Tibet. Today it stands as an extremely influential album which has inspired a wide range of other artists and it is fair to say that is has played a crucial role in the music aesthetics of Fanø Free Folk Festival as well.
