2nd International Chopin Competition on Period Instruments

Przed nami druga edycja Konkursu Chopinowskiego na Instrumentach Historycznych, który odbędzie się w dniach 5-15 października 2023 r. w Filharmonii Narodowej w Warszawie. Harmonogram Konkursu, podobnie jak w przypadku pierwszej edycji, przewiduje trzy etapy: pierwszy i drugi to recitale solowe, których repertuar – oprócz dzieł Chopina – będzie obejmował wybrane utwory Johanna Sebastiana Bacha, Wolfganga Amadeusa Mozarta, a także polonezy polskich kompozytorów tworzących w pierwszej połowie XIX wieku. W trzecim etapie sześciu finalistów wykona wybrane przez siebie utwory Chopina z orkiestrą. Towarzyszyć im będzie {oh!} Orkiestra pod batutą Vaclava Luksa. Pianistów oceniać będzie międzynarodowe Jury złożone z wybitnych muzyków specjalizujących się w wykonawstwie historycznym, jak Andreas Staier, Paolo Giacometti, Tobias Koch oraz wybitnych chopinistów. Uczestniczący w konkursie pianiści będą mieli do dyspozycji fortepiany historyczne z kolekcji Instytutu (Erard z 1838, 1849 i 1855, Pleyel z 1848 i 1854, Broadwood z 1843), kopie instrumentów z epoki oraz instrumenty udostępnione przez zaprzyjaźnione kolekcje europejskie. .......................... The Competition will be held for the second time from 5 to 15 October 2023, again in the Warsaw Philharmonic. It has been slated for three stages: the first and the second are solo recitals with repertoires composed of, beside Chopin, selected pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and polonaises by Polish composers active in the first half of the 19th century. In the third stage, the six finalists will perform their choice of Chopin’s works with an orchestra. They will be accompanied by {oh!} Orkiestra under the baton of Vaclav Luks. The pianists will be assessed by an international jury composed of eminent musicians specialising in historically informed performance, notably Andreas Staier, Paolo Giacometti and Tobias Koch, and eminent Chopin experts. The competing pianists will have at their disposal historical instruments from the Chopin Institute’s collection – Erards from 1838, 1849, and 1855, Pleyels from 1848 and 1854, and a Broadwood from 1843, and, besides those, also replicas of period instruments and instruments kindly loaned from European collections.
