Yes - America as recorded in the studio

If you like the YES cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s ’America’ as much as I do, you will find this a real gem. BE THERE in the studio where the band has just recorded the song. Witness Jon sing, and Chris, Bill, and a very young Steve & Rick handle their instruments. This is one of the very first recordings by YES in their famousest line-up, who would soon move on to record their greatest albums, “Fragile“ and “Close to the Edge“. I added a clean audio recording to this old video tape, and synchronized it - though not perfectly. It is the images that allow us a glimpse in the studio, but it is the music that directly connects us to the heart & soul of Yes: a band of gifted and inventive musicians who loved to experiment and who could actually rock in the meantime. UPDATE: Seven years ago, I made this video in about one hour’s time. A work of love. It has been watched for over times now, a number I could not have imagined in my wildest dreams. I hope it made many music lovers happy. Recently, a YT video has been posted with even better video quality. I have no problem with it: on the contrary, I like it! And I commend the maker of that video to invest the time necessary to give us an even better ’inside look’ into the studio where YES made it happen.
