“They have nothing but, they’re free“ - Angelina Jolie, UNHCR

Angelina Jolie, an American actress and special envoy for the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) visited the aftermath of US-supported Iraqi forces defeating ISIS in Mosul, Iraq in 2018. Why are American actors given these international roles? Am I the only one that finds it a bit weird?
