Intermountainous - Amy Brandon (Adam Cicchillitti, guitar)

Intermountainous is a piece for guitar and electronics, written by Amy Brandon and premiered by Canadian guitarist Julian Bertino. The piece was awarded first prize in the inaugural “Leo Brouwer Composition Competition“. It is a wonderful and intricate piece where the guitar part is loosely tied to the electronic part and is at times in direct conflict and overwhelmed by it. I performed this piece for the first time at the inaugural 21st Century Guitar Conference, and subsequently presented it for the 2nd edition of the conference in Lisbon, Portugal. Amy Brandon notes “This piece illustrates, through sound, the various techniques used to communicate over long distances (ie. between mountains or intermountainous) such as temple bells, letters delivered laboriously by hand, wireless and satellite communications.“ Audio/video by Adam Cicchillitti Sergei de Jonge guitars Augustine Regal strings
