A Salute to Baden Powell- João Luiz plays Badeniana by Sérgio Assad

To celebrate the 86th anniversary of the great Baden Powell (August 6, 1937- September 26, 2000), I am happy to share another study by Sérgio Assad: BADENIANA. I was so privileged to attend Baden’s solo concert in 1997, and that had an enormous impact on me. Shortly after, I was also able to hear him play with his sons Philippe (piano) and Marcel (guitar). Baden’s legacy as a composer and guitarist is of utmost importance. His right-hand technique has yet to be studied in depth, and his contribution to Brazilian popular music through his songs and vast discography makes him a national treasure. In the same spirit of reverence, Sérgio Assad, another master of the instrument pays his homage to Baden Powell with this groovy study BADENIANA.
