Frozen Night - Embrace The Light (voc. Aeralie Brighton, vln. Maria Grigoryeva)

Hey, my first original song of 2020. Back in April, I bought Ori and the Will of the Wisps and was blown away by the soundtrack (no surprise there) along with gameplay and atmosphere. I knew I had to make another Ori song, but I wanted this one to pay more homage to the style of the soundtrack. I commissioned Maria to perform the violin part I wrote, as I was not satisfied with my solo libraries. I felt they couldn’t handle the transitions as cleanly as I’d like, and in some cases they seemed too expressive. In addition to live violin, I had the honor of working with Aeralie on this song as well. We’ve spent the past month going back and forth on vocal ideas and settled on including them in the latter half of the song as that is where I felt they could really shine. She was just wonderful to work with, and it has been a dream of mine to get her on a song once I felt I was good enough to have professional vocals.
