Flying-V: Flying long distances energy-efficiently – TU Delft

The Flying-V is a long-haul aircraft where the passenger cabin, the cargo hold and the fuel all reside in the wing. An oval pressurized cabin has been conceived that allows for an efficient structural design, with sufficient design freedom to allow for proper aerodynamic shaping. It is estimated that the Flying V consumes 20% less fuel than an Airbus A350 for the same mission. The oval shaped cabin allows for new interior concepts. This animation shows both the outside and inside of the Flying-V. It shows a traditional interior set-up and new concept ideas like staggered seats, beds in economy class, group seats and lounge seats. More information:
