Sandgrouse are truly thirsty birds – these double-banded sandgrouse live in arid lands of southern Africa and fly many miles (sometimes up to 100) to reach water to drink. They bob their heads as they suck up and then tip back to swallow lots of water that they then carry to their thirsty nestlings back home.
