Chopin, “Marche Funèbre“ - Dang Thai Son

Đặng Thái Sơn, winner of the “X International Chopin Piano Competition,“ says goodbye to his beloved mother, teacher and mentor - Madame Thái Thị Liên, at her funeral in Hanoi on February 4, 2023. Born in 1918 in Chợ Lớn (near Saigon), Mme Liên was one of the first female concert pianists in Vietnam and was a co-founder of the Conservatory of Music in North Vietnam in 1955. On her 100th birthday, the school honored her with a celebration at which the centenarian played Chopin’s “Mazurka“ to a standing ovation.
