Realitude - Photogrammetry Short Film

Realitude is a real-time rendered short film fully made of 3D scans. I wanted to accept the artificiality of synthesized images. The « errors », which break the illusion of realism, move me because they bear a shared humanity between the artist and the computer. So, I chose to work with 3D scans for their ambiguity : they are half-physical, half-virtual. In Gaston Bachelard’s sentence, later quoted by Yves Klein, (« First there is nothing, next there is a depth of nothingness, then a blue profundity. »), this « blue profundity » made me think of the virtuality which goes out of the current world to lose itself in a floating infinity. We, as human beings, are constantly experiencing both realities : in a limited body we are able to formulate the idea of infinity. The 3D scanning technique is about taking real elements from the current world and turning them into avatars of the other world. It’s about materializing the virtual. And in the end, we might witness a convergence : the hum
