Jonas Eidevall made a fine start to life in north London on Sunday as we ran out 4-0 winners over Tottenham in a pre-season friendly. With a number of players still on holiday following Tokyo 2020, our head coach named a reduced squad with two academy products in our starting XI - and they certainly stepped up to the challenge. In fact, it was Alex Hennessy who opened the scoring inside 30 minutes after being trusted to lead the line. Anna Patten timed her run perfectly down the right wing and whipped the ball across the face of goal, where Hennessy was waiting to head home her first at senior level. We stepped things up a gear following the restart too, pressing and playing out from the back with far greater intensity. We eventually dragged Tottenham’s defence out of position, forcing a foul on Beth Mead inside the penalty area, and Katie McCabe was on hand to rifle a powerful effort into the roof of the net.
