Carina Nebula in Infrared

Starting with a view of the Milky Way, this video zooms in on the Carina Nebula, a nursery of stars located about 7,500 light-years away. An infrared camera called HAWK-I at the Very Large Telescope in Chile’s Atacama Desert allows astronomers to see faint, nascent stars through Carina’s clouds of gas and dust.
