Houthi Missiles Target U.S. Warship; Abu Obaida Warns West & Israel; Israeli President Heckled

The Iran-backed Houthi rebels attacked a U.S. warship in the Red Sea after a reported third strike by U.S. and UK fighter jets in Yemen on Sunday. The U.S. CENTCOM claimed that the anti-ship cruise missile, fired from Houthi-controlled areas towards USS Laboon, was shot down. Yemeni media said that the U.S. and the UK carried out a strike before the Houthi response in the Hodeida province on Jan 14. However, the U.S. denied any attack by the coalition in Yemen. Meanwhile, After several weeks, the spokesperson of Hamas’ armed wing made his first televised address. Abu Obaida boasted about Al-Qassam Brigades’ ’wins’ in the fighting against Israel in Gaza and added that 1,000 IDF vehicles had been destroyed in the last 100 days of the war. He also accused Israel of waging a ’religious war’ by destroying Mosques in the Gaza Strip. The Hamas spokesperson warned that the Palestinian militant group’s allies in Iran’s ’Axis Of Resistance’ will expand attacks ’against the enemy’ in the coming days. Additionally, Israel’s President Isaac Herzog was left embarrassed in public after a huge crowd booed and heckled him while he tried to deliver a speech. Herzog was at a 24-hour protest held for hostages still in Gaza. The protestors chanted “Now, Now“ as Herzog tried to speak, according to Israeli media reports.
