Devastating flood in Greece again! Storm Elias hits Volos!

Storm Elias swept through central Greece, causing power outages and flooding in Volos. For the second time in just a few weeks, the Greek port city of Volos was flooded after heavy rain. Torrents flowed in the streets and the power went out in many places. Greece is still struggling with the effects of flooding following a hurricane about three weeks ago. Now a new storm has caused flooding in some parts of the country. The port city of Volos in central Greece was hit particularly hard again. There was rainfall of around 113 liters per square meter until Wednesday afternoon, after which it continued to rain almost continuously, as the Greek weather service Meteo announced. Many people spent the night without electricity, car traffic was banned and a curfew was imposed. Fire service crews carried out overnight rescues with hundreds of citizens trapped in houses and shops. Cars have been swept away by the rushing torrents and large amounts of mud covered the streets, ending up into the sea.
