πŸ”΅ YouTube Playlist: Joey B. Ellis (Joseph Ellis, born April 22 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American rapper who first became known under the name MC Breeze . He sings, raps, plays guitar and keyboard, writes and produces music and has many other talents, for example, he is familiar with graphics and video applications on the computer. In 1985, Ellis started his record company with money earned from a job at a pizza delivery service. The first release as MC Breeze was the EP Discombobulatorbubalator . It was the first rap record to be boycotted by radio stations for talking about how Chinese people cook dogs and cats. The mayor of Philadelphia saw the Chinese humiliated and ridiculed by the text. Before being banned from the program, Philly’s Power 99fm received around 500 inquiries and requests per day. Breeze continued his musical career and inspired many other artists. He created a stuttering style and defeated New York rapper Just Ice at the New Music Seminar in 1987 . Other artists mimicked this style, including The Fresh Prince , who used stuttering in two of his songs. In 1987 MC Breeze released Superbaad . This track was used by MC Hammer to open his concerts and was also used on his first appearance on the Arsenio Hall show . Then Breeze received a contract as rapper and producer with Bust It Records from Louis Burrell, the brother of MC Hammers. Although MC Breeze had already established itself with this stage name, Atlantic Records brought an act with the same name onto the market. This happened at the time when the soundtrack of the Sylvester Stallone film Rocky V was being recorded . In order to avoid legal disputes, another stage name had to be used, so the real name Joseph Ellis became the stage name Joey B Ellis, with the β€œBβ€œ standing for β€œBreezeβ€œ. On the soundtrack for Rocky V , Joey B Ellis was featured with three self-written songs: Go for It , Thought U Were the One for Me and All U Gotta Do Is Sing . By Go for It 800000 recordings were sold in Europe alone. The demand there was so great that MTV Europe hosted a Joey B Ellis Day. On the side of Chic guitar-player Nile Rodgers Breeze produced at Warner Bros among others BMOC (Big Man on Campus). This was followed by a tour of 35 cities in 13 countries of Europe and Japan , as well as performances at the Soul Train Music Awards at MTV , BET and other television programs. In 1996, Joey’s brother Kenny died of a stroke. In order to come to terms with this loss, a period of mourning and remembrance followed. In 2008 work began on a new album, The Way I See It .
