People Can’t Afford Thrift Stores Anymore!

I’ve been watching the prices in thrift stores steadily increase across the board but the ones who ironically AREN’T affiliated with a charity and could use the money, are the absolute worst. Many people rely on thrift stores to clothe themselves and their families. However due to greed and resellers, those prices are on par if not MORE than what you’d find them as brand new. 6 used items cost $80. As much as this pains me to say, I did an equivalent search on a fast fashion site to price them as brand new and it came out to $78 BEFORE the 20% coupon code bringing the total to $58. When going into your local thrift store is more expensive than a few clicks of the mouse on a fast fashion site, we’re in trouble. As young goths to this day, my friends and I are still hit with a wave of excitement over the prospect of a day of thrifting. Back in the day it was an adventure because you didn’t know what you’d find. You could come back with nothing, you could come back with a bag full of vintage slips, cameos and rosary beads or even a black velvet, something for less than $7. Now, we have a lot more selection, that much is true but the price tags are far from thrift store pricing turning shopping on a budget in to regular shopping and fighting with resellers.
