Learn to Paint LOTUS AND DRAGONFLY with Acrylic Paint - Paint & Sip at Home - Step by Step Tutorial
VIDEO DESCRIPTION – This This painting tutorial will take you through easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions on how to paint this fun and exciting floral landscape image of “LOTUS AND DRAGONFLY“ with acrylic paint. In the Heart of France lies a quaint village town where one of the most famous artists in history once lived. Although a major tourist attraction whose visiting numbers rival the Eiffel tower, you can still get lost and feel isolated as you stroll through the cobble stone streets, bask at the lush flower beds, and meander through endless ponds and over the many colorful bridges. You guessed it... the town is Giverny and the artist is Claude Monet. Monet spent the majority of his artistic career finding inspiration throughout his gardens and ponds, creating impressionistic paintings of just about anything he saw, whether it’s a flower or waterlily pad. Paint with me and capture the essence of a Monet painting and learn art techniques that will help you answer three common questions when creating a pond themed painting: how to paint a lotus, how to paint a lily pad, and how to paint a dragonfly. Using color theory to guide us through mixing various colors, we’ll develop a deep and rich background that will create a visual balance which will draw the attention of our viewers to our flower and flying insect. Using an impressionistic inspired technique of combining a loose brushstroke and drybrush technique for blending, you’ll create dimension for the foliage and water lily pads and add movement to the water in such a way that would make even Monet proud. After drawing an outline you’ll apply a base coat of paint to your powerful perennial, then you’ll use simple painting techniques to add color contrast, as well as highlights and shadows, to bring the lotus petals to life with a 3-d photo realistic quality. This method is so simple, you could easily change your flower into any blossoming bud you want, whether it’s multiple lilies, an orchid, rose, lily, daisy, or tulips. When it comes to learning how to paint a dragonfly, the process used to paint the flower is used again... we will draw an outline and apply a base coat and then add color, shadows and highlights to bring it to life. Once again, the process is simple enough where you will have the confidence to replace the dragonfly with any little flying critter you want, whether it’s a butterfly, bee, moth, ladybug, nymph, fairy, spider, fly, or mosquito. You can imagine this do be any place you want, your backyard, a nearby farm, your favorite hiking destination, your family’s flower garden, a lake, stream, brook, or a pond at Epcot Center in Disney World. The bold natural colors with the lotus and the dragonfly add a relaxed mood to this outdoor scene invoking a sense of quiet stillness that captures a profound moment in nature that symbolizes happiness, new beginnings, hope, love, purity, enlightenment, self-regeneration and rebirth. With the construction of the composition, you’ll have fun with the simplicity of the process, but you’ll also learn some valuable lessons that you can utilize in future work. Using only 3 brushes and 8 colors we’ll create this conversational masterpiece. So, let’s get painting and let’s get sipping!
