J.H. Knecht: Allegretto in D Major | Pep Organ @ Wollongong Town Hall

Perhaps it’s becoming obvious now that I’m quite the admirer of Knecht. His wealth of fine organ music may also incline me to call him the “Mozart of the Organ“, though I do find his melodies more enticing than Herr Mozart’s. Truth be told, I don’t know where this Allegretto comes from. Knecht included many short example compositions in his various organ teaching publications, and this was probably from one of those. I found the piece in the Kunzelmann edition entitled “Lively and pleasant pieces for organ in elegant style, through the most common major keys.“ Performed on the Sharp organ at Wollongong Town Hall.
