No other place bears witness to that part of the history better than the Broken Bridge that spans over the Yalu River, the border river between China and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). Damaged in U.S. bombing at the early stage of the Korean War, the bridge has only a portion survived. Next to the Broken Bridge is the China-DPRK Friendship Bridge, which was also bombed during the war but was repaired. Today, it serves as a main passage between the two countries, for both tourists and goods transport. It’s a big reminder of a vivid lesson – the more you sweat in peace, the less you bleed in wars.
