Sound Effects Notes: This soundtrack was recorded from a real SEGA Mega Drive (PAL, Model 1, VA4) using a Mega Everdrive X3 cartridge. All tracks were recorded at 96kHz 24-bit using a Sound BlasterX G5 sound card and the stereo headphones jack located at the front of the Mega Drive. All tracks were recorded from within the game. There’s a menu that lets you turn music, sound effects and “Larry“ on and off as well as listen to Larry’s voice clips by holding down A, B or C and pressing left and right on the control pad. Larry seems to have fewer voice clips in the Mega Drive version of the game than he does in the Super Nintendo version. Some sound effects might be missing, I’m not sure how many there are in the game but I tried to get them all including the ones in the stage transition scene. Track titles and composers are based on the back of the SEGA Genesis Rock n’ Roll Racing box art. The order of the tracks is based on the VGM rips from project2612 and Zophar’s Domain. The game credits “Software Creations“ and “Sound Images“ for audio programming while both project2612 and Zophar’s Domain credit Tony Williams as the artist. According to , Tim Follin (Software Creations) was responsible for the Super Nintendo version of the soundtrack and Tony Williams (Sound Images) did the Mega Drive version. The manual and the game itself credit Larry “Supermouth“ Huffman for the voice. Did you notice there’s at least three different ways to spell the game’s title? According to the title screen this game is called “Rock n’ Roll Racing“ but the European box art calls it “Rock ’n’ Roll Racing“. The game is listed on as “Rock ’n Roll Racing“.
