The Church and the Priesthood are Inseparable

Excerpted from Lesson 3.2: Rev. 9: 1-12: On the 5th Plague of Heresy, Demonic Element & Two Paths (Special Session), Series 3, by Fr. Peter Heers “The Church is constituted or established by the mystery of the holy Priesthood. The mystery of the Priesthood constitutes the Church, and is, in turn, constituted by the Church. More profoundly, the Priesthood authenticates all the mysteries, including the mysteries of the Divine Eucharist and Holy Baptism, which are performed in the Church. The Priesthood itself is received within the Church and ordination occurs only during the mystery of the divine liturgy. Thus, the Priesthood and the Church are indispensably connected, as the Priesthood constitutes the Church and is itself constituted by the Church. Protestantism dispensed with the mystery of Holy Orders and thus we should not waste any time thinking of them as churches.“ -Elder Athanasios Mitilinaios (Revelation vol.
