Japanese philosopher Saito Kohei on the double standard on Russia and Israel’s participation in the Olympics: I will boycott the Olympics. I don’t want to be part of a sporting cesspit. It also means I don’t want to be part of the Israeli problem. Russia can’t participate in the Olympics right now. But the UN International Court of Justice has recommended that what Israel is doing be considered genocide and the occupation policy itself a violation of international law. Yet there is a double standard in that the international community and the Olympic Association recognise Israel’s participation in the event. When this happens, people rejoice in the celebration of peace and think it is a good thing, but the Palestinian people and Gazans are forgotten and there will be no one left to remember the genocide. I try not to look at it for a minute. Source: Global News (EU, USA)
