Varna, 1897. The three-masted schooner Demeter sets sail for England. Besides a crew of nine, several crates filled with Transylvanian soil are on board. When the ship is driven into port during a storm in Whitby, England, there is no trace of the crew. Only the captain of the Demeter is on board, dead and tied to the steering wheel. What jumps off the ghost ship that mysterious night in the form of a large black dog will achieve worldwide fame as Count Dracula.
