Mental health benefits payments to be reduced in favour of treatment, Sunak announces
Rishi Sunak announced on Friday 19 April that benefits payments to people with long-term mental health issues would be reduced in favour of promoting treatment.
He said that personal independent payments (PIP) could be reduced to promote treatment, despite the longest waiting lists for a generation.
The prime minister made the comment as part of a larger speech surrounding increased long-term sickness in the workforce.
