Super Harvest Full Moon - The Most Spectacular Full Moon of the Year is Coming

The most spectacular full Moon is coming just six days after the autumnal equinox. The Harvest Full Moon. According to folklore the Harvest Moon is the full Moon that falls closest to the autumnal equinox, the beginning of northern autumn. The Harvest Moon is really special. Throughout the year the Moon rises, on average, about 50 minutes later each day. But near the equinox, this difference shrinks to only 30 minutes. The reason is, at the beginning of autumn Moon’s arbital path makes a narrow angle with the evening horizon. For several nights in a row around the time of the Harvest Moon, the Moon rises almost at sunset. The 2023 Harvest Moon is also the last supermoon of the year. A supermoon is a Moon that is full when it is also at or near its closest point in its orbit around Earth. Super Full Moons appear about 14% bigger and 30% brighter than the full Moons. At sundown on September 29, go outside, face east and enjoy the Super Harvest Full Moon.
