Gangster chemists help narco crew that’s led by a retired hitman

Underworld chemists gave these wealthy narcos a shocking edge over police in this global caper with a boss who was a retired hitman — a sicario — with a notorious Colombian paramilitary. Let me tell you about it. The Mob Reporter here with news of a wild innovation to secretly move their illicit products across borders and around the world to keep them ahead of the game, at least for a bit. For years, traffickers have been hiding bricks of cocaine inside boxes of bananas to be shipped around the world. It was simple but effective because bananas grow in the same climates where cocaine is produced. But the banana smugglers eventually slipped, and cops were keeping their eyes peeled for bananas at seaports around the world. The loss for narcos was enormous. Then one day, an enterprising narco seems to have turned to his narco-buddies and said: Amigos, what if the cocaine wasn’t packed as easy-to-see-bricks inside the boxes of bananas but instead — hear me out — infused right into the cardboard the boxes were made of. Believe it or not, they found a way. Here is that story and the story of how police in two countries worked together to topple them. It was two years in the making, but the National Police in Spain recently discovered this clandestine laboratory. Hidden, in of all places, in a bull fighting ring. The laboratory reminds me of the fictional meth lab used by Walter White in Breaking Bad. It built underneath Gus Frings industrial laundromat, as seen here from the hit AMC TV series.
