A Flock Of Seagulls ~ I Ran (So Far Away) 1982 New Wave XTension

No one wore that seagull haircut better than Mike Score, lead singer of A Flock Of Seagulls. Formed in 1979 during the New Wave blitz, they had already decided on the band name when Mike was working his hair into a David Bowie type pouf mullet for a live gig and had teased his hair really big when bassist Frank Maudsley started a fight for mirror space by pushing down Mike’s head and flattening out the hair on top leaving the sides splayed out like the wings of a seagull and an 80’s icon was born. The initial members were brothers Mike (lead vocals, keyboards) and Ali Score (drums) and Frank Maudsley (bass), soon Willie Woo (guitars) and Mark Edmonson (drums) was hired to replace Ali during an epic brother fight. Ali soon returned to the fold and Mark departed. Woo also left and was replaced by Paul Reynolds and became part of the classic lineup.
