Dream House (1957)

Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire. L/S of the exterior of a modern house. Two people sit on chairs in the garden, a woman joins them. Closer shots of the family. It is the architect Edward Curtis, his wife and daughter. Various shots of Mr and Mrs Curtis outside and inside their home. It is a solar powered house. Nice shots of the interior which has great design features. Lovely long windows with huge curtains, a groovy cement and pebble table, a high tech fireplace, bucket chairs, etc. Dynamic abstract mural by Cecil Stephenson is found at the top of the stairs - nice natural beech steps on a welded steel framework. Mrs Curtis has made the “tread pads“ on the stairs. Mr Curtis checks the temperature of the house with a thermometer. Narrator explains how the solar power works. Mr Curtis is seen at his drawing board. Nice high angle shot shows Mrs Curtis in the hallway, Mr Curtis looks over a balcony to speak to her. Colours used in the house are pale blue, yellow and bright red - very nice. F
