Stephan Bodzin – Singularity // SE-02/Digitakt version

I decided to recreate Stephan Bodzin’s masterpiece Singularity using my Electron Digitakt and Roland SE-02 only. Of course, the timbral characteristics of the SE-02 are quite different from Stephan’s Moog Sub37, but, I believe the SE-02 can sound amazing too, with a bit of effort. In this video, I mapped a few SE-02 parameters on the Digitakt (filter cut-off frequency, contour, oscillator mix, filter LFO, mod, etc.) , so that I can control them from the Digitakt either by tweaking the knobs live or via parameter locks. It’s a lot of fun, and one could easily achieve effects that would be close to impossible to control manually (like precisely controlling the fine tune of one of the oscillator by means of a ramp LFO parameter locked to one single note/trig). Digitakt’s main output and SE-02 are recorded directly into Logic via Overbridge and USB, and I applied a bit of Valhalla Vintage plate reverb on the SE-02, and some compression and limiting. All in all, this exercise allowed me to get more familiar with my Digitakt and SE-02 and, most of all, I had a lot of fun performing it live. Hope you like it!
