Ahrex - Rough Hare’s Ear Nymph - by Jan de Haas

It is probably the most all-round and iconic nymph there is - and a fly you absolutely must have in your nymph-box when the target is trout or graylings. Who originally tied the first versions of the Hare’s Ear Nymph or Gold ribbed Hare’s Ear Nymph is not known, but an Englishman in the early 1900s must be thought to be the first to tie the nymph in that form. We have had the talented fly tyer Jan de Haas from Holland in the studio to demonstrate his version of the Hare’s Ear Nymph in a version with turkey fibers as tail, body and back shield. Hook: Ahrex FW 561, Nymph # 12 Thread: White Tail: Turkey tail Body: Turkey tail Rib: Oval gold tinsel Thorax: Hares ear dubbing Back: Turkey tail Want to know more about Ahrex Hooks?
