Registered as a National Treasure of the Republic of Korea - December 20, 1962 Collection of the National Museum of Korea, 137 Seobinggo-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, Korea. This is a celadon incense burner from Goryeo (old name of the Republic of Korea ( AD 918-1392), a period of 474 years), made in the 12th century, and is a Korean national treasure. It is 15.3 cm in height and 11.2 cm in pedestal diameter and consists of two parts: a lid and a body. It is a 12th century Goryeo Dynasty incense burner made through various techniques such as openwork, inlay, figurine, and inlay. The lid consists of a spherical part decorated with a hole through which the incense rises and spreads, and a support part underneath. Each intersection point of the spherical part is decorated with white dots one by one. The body is in two parts, the upper part is in the shape of a round brazier, which is covered with several layers of chrysanthemum leaves and supported by a large chrysanthemum leaf. The lower part is a pedestal supporting the body of the incense burner, supported by three rabbits on their backs. A vine pattern is engraved on the side of the pedestal, and the rabbit’s eyes are represented by black dots. The glaze is grey-blue with a subtle sheen. This work can be seen as a kind of ’inlaid celadon’, and it can be said that it is a work that shows various techniques, which is rare in ’Goryeo celadon’. It seems to have many delicate craftsmanship decorations, but overall, it is an excellent ’Celadon Incense Burner’ with well-balanced and well-balanced sense of stability. 3. What is Goryeo celadon? Perhaps the most famous and valuable relic of the ’Goryeo Dynasty’ is the ’Goryeo celadon’. ’Goryeo celadon’ is a porcelain coated with a clear and delicate blue glaze, refined and developed in the ’Goryeo Dynasty’. The color of ’Korea celadon’ reminds us of ’blue sky’ in ’autumn’. ’Celadon’ was made into ’bowl’, ’cup’, ’honey jar’, ’pillow’, and even ’roof tiles’. ’Inlaid’ is a unique technique in which patterns are carved into the surface of ’celadon’. By the middle of the 12th century, Korean potters had developed their own unique skills. At first, this ’inlaid technique’, in which patterns were carved, was generally used for ’bronze’ and other products. However, the craftsmen of ’Goryeo celadon’ applied these techniques to ’pottery’ for the first time. Master Contact - matthi@ Address - 69-25, Wonjeok-ro, Sindun-myeon, Icheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, Korea.
