Shoigu told President Vladimir Putin assault units had taken the “powerfully fortified“ area just outside Donetsk, a Russian-held regional capital. The commander of Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valerii Zaluzhnyi said Ukrainian forces had moved to the outskirts of Mariinka.
