Using a 15-year-old laptop in 2022

Hello everyone! Back with another video, this time taking a look at the Lenovo ThinkPad T61, which this year turned 15 years old! Released in 2007, this laptop utilizes Core 2 Duo processors and was shipped at a time when Windows XP was still the norm, YouTube was still in its infancy, and 2 GB of RAM was considered “more than enough“. As someone who frequently uses older machines and has a soft spot for these older ThinkPads, can a laptop that is nearly old enough to drive a car still perform in the modern world? Was my choice to put a T61 motherboard into an older T60, make some upgrades, and use it as my daily machine worth it? Stay tuned to find out! For those who are curious about the “FrankenPad“ process including why people do it, check out my videos on the subject! Part 1: Part 2: Part 3: Also a slight correction at 1:40 in the video, the T61 did not have an IR sensor at all, what I thought was an IR port on the 4:3 model was just a knockout. Whoops. Thanks to user zoltan87 for pointing that out!
